Below is a copy of my aftercare sheet in case you forgot yours or need a brush-up.

TATTOO AFTERCARE

Leave dermashield on for 2-4 days, or at least overnight, if comfortable (should it start to peel, take it off).

The build-up of liquid (blood, plasma, ink) is normal.

★ While the patch is on, you can of course shower and get it wet. Avoid scrubbing the patch with a loaf/cloth while bathing.

Remove the patch slowly under running water. I find it is easiest at the end of a shower.

After removing the patch, wash your tattoo with clean hands with any unscented/gentle soap. I highly recommend the Hustle Butter antibacterial foaming soap, Dove sensitive skin bar soap, or Dial gold.

Pat dry with a paper towel or a clean towel and rub a thin layer of Hustle Butter (my favorite), or Lubriderm (the regular or advanced care) over your tattoo. You can of course use moisturizer of your choice as long as what you’re using is gentle, unscented, and water-based.

★ Wash your tattoo at minimum 1-2 times a day while it is healing.

Apply Hustle Butter/Lubriderm 2-3 times a day or as needed for the first week or when your tattoo feels dry.  When your tattoo is itchy, it just needs moisture.

THINGS NOT TO DO WITH A NEW TATTOO

Do not swim in the ocean, lakes, ponds, or any body of water for at least the first two weeks. (if you do, wash it as soon as you can after exposure and moisturize though I do not recommend as bacteria can get into your fresh tattoo and can cause infection/can get you sick).

Do not soak in a hot tub, bathtub, or go in a sauna; sweating a lot is bad for your tattoo and can cause infection.

Do not scratch or pick at scabbing or flaking parts of the tattoo (if your tattoo itches, slap it gently instead of itching it and apply moisturizer). Your tattoo will naturally exfoliate when you wash it.

Do not go tanning or expose your tattoo to direct sunlight. Make sure to use sunscreen.

Do not use scented lotions, soaps, or body washes, and avoid using a loofah or towel on it for at least the first 2 weeks. All it will do is irritate it.
